Hat's Off to Style: The Wilkins Family's Matching Carlsbad Adventure
Some family photo sessions just have an extra spark of personality, and my recent afternoon with the wonderful Wilkins family at Buena Vista Reservoir Park in Carlsbad was absolutely one of those. These lovely folks traveled down from Valley Center to North County to capture some beautiful outdoor memories, and they did it with incredible flair—all five family members wearing perfectly coordinated matching straw hats!
Seeing three generations of beautiful smiles, including the delightful young daughter Thalia and her proud father Dionisio, alongside her mother and both loving grandmas, was a reminder of why I founded Photography Matters. Sunshine and Coordination at Buena Vista
Buena Vista Reservoir Park, with its gorgeous natural light filtering through mature oak trees and glimpses of sparkling water, is the perfect backdrop for a sensory-friendly outdoor photoshoot in Carlsbad. The relaxed, expansive environment meant Thalia (just 2 and a half years old) could explore and let her true personality shine through, rather than feeling confined in a traditional studio setting.
The matching hats weren't just a clever stylish choice; they became a fun focal point for the entire session. There's nothing more beautiful than seeing a multigenerational family fully leaning into a shared theme with laughter and easy, natural confidence.
