A West Coast Welcome: Alexiss’s Carlsbad Maternity Session
There is something truly magical about capturing the quiet anticipation before a family grows. Recently, I had the absolute honor of photographing a beautiful maternity session for Alexiss right here in Carlsbad. With baby number two arriving on September 15th, 2026, we wanted to create some stunning coastal memories to celebrate this amazing new chapter!
From the Capital to the Coast
Alexiss and her family recently made a massive cross-country move from Washington D.C. to Southern California. Her husband is in the military and works right next door at Camp Pendleton. Oceanside and Carlsbad are incredibly proud military towns, and since Camp Pendleton is where so many Marines come to train, it is a place where families from all over the country come to plant new roots.
However, with all of her family still back on the East Coast in DC, capturing this milestone was extra important. These photos aren't just for her own walls—they are a beautiful way to share the joy and progress of her pregnancy with the loved ones who couldn't be here to see her glowing in person.
Sun, Sand, and Spanish Architecture
For her session, we wanted to capture the true beauty of Southern California. We started out exploring the beautiful Spanish-style architecture and vibrant coastal flowers before heading down to the beach. Alexiss looked absolutely radiant in a flowing pink dress and a stunning floral crown.
She is already an amazing mom to her kid, and you can just feel the calm, joyful energy she has as she prepares to welcome her newest little one. We kept the entire session relaxed, utilizing the soft, natural light of the beach and the cool textures of the sea caves to make sure she felt comfortable and beautiful the entire time.
