Oceanside Pier Family Photography: Three Generations of Connection
Family is everything, and there is no better way to celebrate that bond than gathering by the ocean. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing a beautiful three-generation family session at Oceanside Beach, centered around Grandma Lisa and her wonderful family. For Lisa, spending time with her loved ones is the most important thing in the world, and her deep faith sets a loving, grounded tone for her entire family. Because her sweet one-year-old granddaughter currently lives out of state, getting everyone together on the California coast was an incredibly meaningful occasion.
Under the Iconic Oceanside Pier
We started our session under the massive, textured wooden pilings of the Oceanside Pier, which provided a stunning architectural backdrop and beautiful natural lighting. The family looked effortlessly cohesive for their coastal portraits, wearing a relaxed mix of classic whites, navy blues, soft pinks, and denim.
We captured wonderful group portraits featuring Lisa, her husband, their adult son and daughter, and the newest little addition to the family. We also made sure to carve out time to photograph the siblings together, as well as the beautiful connection between Lisa and her husband with a sweet, candid kiss under the pier.
Seagulls and Sandy Toes
At Photography Matters, we believe the best extended family sessions balance classic group portraits with relaxed, candid fun. The open beach was the absolute perfect playground for a one-year-old! Wearing an adorable pink top and lace-trimmed jeans, Lisa's grand-daughter had a blast crawling through the warm sand and watching the seagulls stroll by.
Whether she was waddling along the sunny shoreline or sharing quiet, sweet snuggles with her mom in the shade of the pier, capturing here curiosity brought out the most genuine, effortless smiles from the whole family.
Big Dreams on the Horizon
This family also has so much exciting adventure ahead of them. Lisa’s son is currently on the path to becoming a professional golfer, and the family is already planning to travel the world to watch him play. Documenting these foundational family memories now, before those big global travels begin, makes this Oceanside portrait gallery even more special.
